The prophets left more details about the one who was coming: where he'd be born, how he'd arrive, even what would happen to his clothes. Open each one to see the promise and what happened.
“But you, Bethlehem Ephrathah, though you are small among the clans of Judah, out of you will come for me one who will be ruler over Israel.”
What happened: Jesus is born in Bethlehem, a small town, not in the capital, Jerusalem. Matthew 2:1
Micah 5:2“See, your king comes to you, righteous and victorious, lowly and riding on a donkey.” Not a warhorse.
What happened: Jesus rides into Jerusalem on a young donkey while crowds shout, “Blessed is the king of Israel!” John 12:13–15
Zechariah 9:9“They divide my clothes among them and cast lots for my garment.” From a prayer of David in agony.
What happened: At the cross, soldiers split up Jesus's clothes and throw dice for his seamless undergarment. John 19:23–24
